Still 5 weeks to go to my departure. I am getting nervous about all the things I still have to do, like getting injections against rabies, buying hiking material in a giant shop in Cologne (http://www.globetrotter.de/), getting my achilles cured (fingers crossed), finding a family to take care of my sweet dog... and of course saying goodbye to my hommies!
I am flying on the 3th January to Rio de Janeiro with one backpack and some guts. I could arrange a pickup in the airport by the mother of a friend in Belgium. I will be staying with this family for two days in a small village near Rio and close to the sea. I am so excited to live with locals!
After that I will go to Iguazu, the waterfalls at the border between Brasil and Argentina, to end up for three weeks in Buenos Aires. I had contact with a girl from Ferring, with whom I worked for four year and she is happy to show me around. At the beginning of February, I hope my (step)brother Sam will arrive in BA, so we can go hiking in Patagonia.
I am so looking forward to be in the amazing nature of the Latin America!!!

Sabbatical 2012
2011 is my year of change. My thirties are coming closer and I still did not make that big trip I was dreaming about since I was 18. So I booked a ticket to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Departure: 3 January 2012 - Return: 30 May 2012.
My plan is travel from Rio, through the Iguazu Falls to Buenos Aires, Argentina. After three weeks learning Spanish and discovering the bubbly city, I would travel through Patagonia. I want to hike a few days in El Parc National de los Glaciares, Torres del Paine, visit the Perito Moreno and hang out in the Lake District. I hope to get to the North of Argentina/Chile by April and the South of Brasil by May. I also want to see Bolivia and Peru, but I guess I'd better plan a seperate trip for that. I'll see where the wind takes me...
